Title

Letter from L. L. Rai to E. R. A. Seligman (November 30, 1917)

Subject

Lala Lajpat Rai, "England's Debt to India," Longmans, Green & Co (publishing company)

Description

Rai writes to Seligman that he has "not tried Longman's and will appreciate your writing me a letter." He also tells the professor that his "England's Debt to India" is out and that by "tomorrow morning" he is "hoping to have a copy left at your office at Columbia." In the postscript, Rai tells Seligman:
I do not think Longmans Green &
Co. will accept this book. They
told me once that the London
Head Office deals all such
books relating to India. They know
me, as they (ie the London house)
published my book "Arya
Samaj," but they published it
at my expense. I am certain I
could find a publisher in London
but this is a book written for
the Americans and I want it to be
published in this ccountry.
